Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi are set to join Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra‘ in Bihar on August 27, marking a significant show of unity among opposition parties.
The yatra, launched by Rahul Gandhi on August 17 in Purnea, Bihar, aims to raise awareness about alleged irregularities in the revision of the Bihar voter list and protest what the Congress describes as efforts to manipulate voter rolls.
Positioned as a grassroots democratic movement, the campaign seeks to mobilise public support and draw attention to what Rahul Gandhi calls a systematic attempt to disenfranchise voters. The yatra has steadily gained momentum, with Gandhi being joined by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as they travel through various districts of Bihar.
A symbolic two-wheeler rally in Purnea, featuring both leaders, was held to highlight youth involvement and connect with local communities.
The campaign will culminate on September 1 with a grand rally in Patna, expected to showcase the unity of the INDIA opposition alliance.
Stalin and Kanimozhi’s participation highlights the DMK’s support for the Congress-led initiative, signaling stronger regional backing as national elections approach.
Rahul Gandhi has also strongly criticized the Election Commission of India, accusing it of collusion with the ruling BJP and alleging manipulation of election outcomes in Bihar.
